Partner Visa Onshore Subclass 820/801

This partner visa is for the onshore applicants, the main applicant and the sponsor will have to be onshore when applying for the application and when the department grant the visa. This visa consists of 2 stages. Stage 1 subclass 820: this is a temporary visa that allows you to stay in Australia for 2 years before transitioning you to a permanent resident visa, you will need to be sponsored by your partner who holds either Australian citizenship or permanent resident you are allowed to work with no limitations while holding this visa, you need to submit the proof of your relationship with your partner. Stage 2 subclass 801: this is a permanent resident, to be eligible for this visa, you will need to hold subclass 820 and submit further proof of your relationship with your partner since the duration of your 820. You will be issued a bridging visa A (BVA) when you apply for this visa, BVA allows you to work and study with no limitation but you are not allowed to travel overseas while BVA is active, you can request for a bridging visa B (BVB) that allows you to travel for the specified period when you have been granted a BVA. You need to prove that your relationship is genuine, it is recommended that you and your partner have the evidence that you have been together for at least 1 year as it is more believable. The sponsor will have to lodge a sponsorship application before sponsoring the main applicant of subclass 820.

Additional Proof of Your Relationship

You can submit the same proof as from your 820 application but your chance of success is low, you need to show that you have been staying together while holding or waiting for subclass 820 so that the department see your commitment of staying together.

Changes to Your Relationship
