There are 3 categories of regional areas in Australia:
Category 1 – Major Cities
This category is not considered a regional area and therefore does not have access to regional benefits.

Category 2 – Cities and Major Regional Centres
Have access to the following benefits:
1. Priority processing of regional visas
2. Access to the Regional Occupations List – more jobs compared to non-regional lists
3. 1 extra year of subclass 485 if you hold qualifications of Bachelor or higher from a regional campus
Have access to the following benefits:

Category 3 – Regional Centres and Other Regional Areas
Have access to the following benefits:
1. Access to the Regional Occupations List – more jobs compared to non-regional lists
2. Priority processing of regional visas
3. Priority processing in negotiation region specific DAMA
4. 2 extra years of subclass 485 if you hold qualifications of Bachelor or higher from a regional category 3 campus
Have access to the following benefits:
